House & Garden Tours
Guided House Tours are always included with your admission to The Mount. You’ll get a fascinating overview of Edith Wharton’s life, her many works, and her passion for interior design and architecture during the 50-minute tour of the 42 rooms in her lovely home. From May through October, you can also take part in formal tours of the lovingly restored gardens, reflecting another of Wharton’s many passions.

Backstairs Tours
Learn about the lives of the many servants who worked behind the scenes at The Mount with this fascinating glimpse into the life and times that surrounded Edith Wharton. Your ticket to this tour also includes a Q&A session and enjoying mimosas on the Terrace!

Ghost Tours
Don’t be afraid to participate in this private, 90-minute, after-dark tour. You’ll enjoy an evening highlighted by creaking floors, slamming doors, and plenty of ghostly fun as you tour the purportedly haunted parts of The Mount estate. While it’s all in good fun, the tour is not recommended for those under 13.

Cultural Center Events
The Mount proudly partners with more than 40 different area organizations, presenting thought-provoking lectures, dramatic readings, live theater, musical events, storytelling sessions, workshops, film screenings, and, of course, literary panels. Check out the calendar to find out what will be going on during your visit. The Monday Lecture Series is a local favorite!

Exhibitions
From a photography exhibit that documents early 20th-century working class life in the area to a chronology of Wharton’s own life during World War I and the impressive backstairs project, offering the newly re-imagined sewing room and kitchen, there are always plenty of permanent and new exhibits to explore at The Mount.
